Outdoor Plants: January

We wish you all this best for the new year.

As far as the garden is concerned we are always hopeful for the year ahead. We wish for nice weather, productive crops and lots of cheering colour. Now is the time to be planning ahead as to what you would like to achieve.

The ground , if frozen, would be better left until a warmer time but this does not mean that you won’t get anything done. Why not make up a to do list for the coming months, maybe you have a garden planner (a bit like a diary) that you can use to plan ahead.

In the garden centre there are some lovely evergreen plants that are always sure to add a bit of warmth to a cold doorstep. Lovely Skimmia, some with lovely red coloured berries. The Christmas Rose, Helleborus, is always popular at this time of year and will be one of the first plants to be flowering at this time. It comes in many colours with single and double flowers to choose from.

Also in stock this month is a large selection of potted bulbs. Everything from traditional Daffodils and Tulips to the more unusual Scilla and Pushkinia.

Have fun putting together a nice pot for fresh Spring colour.
