Outdoor Plants: August

The garden at any time of year is a work in progress but this month there is definitely plenty to do.The main tasks are tidying and feeding etc. but there is still time to be planting.

When some of your early herbaceous are now looking past it you could always lift and split them and move to a different area replacing them with something else.Later flowering herbaceous maybe, there will still be plenty to choose from.

Phlox and Sedum are a couple of lovely looking plants at this time of year.

Hydrangea macrophphylla is a wonderful all rounder. They come in mostly pinks, blues, reds and whites. An interesting shrub which depending on your soil PH will change colour. For eg. in an acidic soil your hydrangea will be blue, this would be a good indicator for you to plant acid loving plants in your garden.
